Coca Cola Scholars Foundation Alumni Event at Sony Studios

Thursday, November 19, 2015 | Los Angeles, CA – The Coca Cola Scholars Foundation hosted yet another special alumni event at the Commissary Room at Sony Studios this past Thursday. As always, it was a wonderful time to catch up with alumni and key staff old and new, who have all transplanted for some reason or another over the years to Los Angeles.

It was at this time that it had dawned on me that almost two decades will have passed since I graduated from high school and became a Coke Scholar in 1996! Regardless of how fast time flies, I can honestly and proudly say, that I am still so thankful and forever humbled to have been selected as a Coca Cola Scholars Foundation Scholar within its early years as a program and beyond.

Since 1989, Coca Cola has awarded nearly 6,000 scholars with millions of dollars worth of scholarships to attend 4-year universities across the country. On top of this, our program has provided ample service opportunities for us to continue to give back as we mature and develop in our respective professions. For example, back in 2005, a number of Coke Scholar alum flew down to New Orleans shortly after Hurricane Katrina to rebuild homes, playgrounds, churches, and even Pontchartrain Park — a historic black ballpark.
