Team SOLE*dier Sisters Successfully Completes SoCal Ragnar 200+ Mile Relay for Charity

April 10-11, 2015 | Huntington Beach to San Diego, CA – This year I was proud to participate in my very first 200+ Mile SoCal Ragnar event with Team SOLEdier Sisters (#SOLEdierSisters) for the Child Abuse Prevention Center. About 800 teams and thousands of runners came together to compete in the SoCal Ragnar and to cross the finishline within 24-30 hours. Ideally, each runner takes on 3 legs (or more) around the clock, passing their “baton” to the next runner at each exchange, for 36 in total.

With the exception of one teammate, we were all newbies to the event, but no strangers to marathons and certainly not to charities. We came together as Team In Training alumnus, where we have all previously participated and raised contributions for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and cancer research for decades combined.

For myself, I absolutely had a blast running the most miles for our team and for what Ragnar labeled some of the most difficult exchanges in the relay–at the end of the day, it was for such a worthy cause, it didn’t matter. Even running in the dead of the heat mid-afternoon, and then again at 2 and 3 in the morning, and then again the next day, on little sleep… none of those obstacles could stop me. In fact, I already look forward to the next Ragnar!

All in all, it was a wonderful event and I look forward to participating in many more Ragnar events for years to come. To learn more about Ragnar and their different city events, visit www.ragnarrelay.com/race/southerncalifornia.

Next up… cycling the 525+ mile California Coast Classic for juvenile arthritis and the Arthritis Foundation. To sponsor my fundraising efforts, please visit http://ccc15.kintera.org/jummyb, thank you!
