As some of you may or may not know, it has been a lifelong dream of mine to write and publish a children’s book, and that time is now. I am proud to announce that Am I Half Giraffe? will debut on Lexique Du Monde Press, officially releasing this September 2014! Also, it isn’t just a typical children’s book either–t’sTHE FIRST quintilingual children’s book on the market; that is, 1 book, 1 story, 5 languages (English, French, Spanish, Korean, and Afrikaans).

Inspiration and Motivation for the Book
When I was in my late teens, I started to write a children’s book series for diverse families and children, but with school and all of the activities I was involved with back then, I unfortunately decided to set that goal aside..
Then in March of 2012, I revived that dream and took a course on learning the ins-and-outs of the children’s book writing and publishing business. From there, I helped to organize a children’s book writing group in the DC/Maryland/Virginia area to help other new writers create some accountability to continue to write, produce, and eventually publish our work.. It was at that time that I became a member of SCBWI – the Society for Book Writers and Illustrators – to stay abreast of all things to do with the children’s book publishing market.
Fast forward, and I’m a few weeks away from not only having my book, Am I Half Giraffe? hit the bookstands, Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and the like, but I’ll be hosting an official launch party at an undisclosed location in Los Angeles (by invite only).
