Paragliding Over the Pyrenees Mountains

July 20, 2013 | Southern France – I had no idea that a friend would surprise me by taking me paragliding over the Pyrenees Mountains in the South of France. We woke up early, started to hike up a hill, while I continued to ask what the plan was. Two men came up to us asking for directions up the mountain, but low and behold, they were part of the surprise.

I thought it was strange that both men jumped into our little lift, as there were so many behind us, but we continued to speak in French and English to them since they were so nice. When we got to the top of the mountain, it was breathtaking. The two men started to take out equipment from their backpacks, and that’s when it finally hit me!

Before I knew it, they were both paragliding instructors giving us directions on how we were to properly jump off the side of the mountain. In literally less than 15 minutes after we arrived at the top of the mountain, I was jumping with some strange French guy on my back, off the Pyrennes Mountains, overlooking France and Spain.

It’s a good thing I already jumped out of a plane, because I was so excited to do it without any forewarning! Check out the video and photos.
